Take the FOXSports.com early look 2003-04 Top 25 for exactly what it is -- a very early projection of next season's best teams.
It will probably take on a radically different look, not only in the fall but maybe even as early as late June.
That's when we should have a much clearer idea about who will be playing for some of the teams, as well as who will be coaching some of these teams.
The following rankings were assembled under the assumption that some of the better underclassmen will be opting for the NBA draft, most notable among those being Carmelo Anthony of Syracuse, Dwyane Wade of Marquette, T.J. Ford of Texas, Chris Kaman of Central Michigan and Luke Ridnour of Oregon.
If any of these guys decide to come back, well that's a whole different story.
Ready or not ...
FOXSports.com's Early 2004 Top 25
1. Connecticut (23-10) – Jim Calhoun returns a leading candidate for 2004 Player of the Year (center Emeka Okafor) and another probable All-America in guard Ben Gordon. Okafor, the NABC Defensive Player of the Year, would be a lottery choice in June but says he will be back for his junior season. Taliek Brown will team with Gordon to make up as good a starting backcourt as there is in the country, and any of three sophomores, Marcus White, Rashad Anderson and Denham Brown, could be All-Big East players.
shoot, EMEKA OKAFOR IS THE PROBABLY PRESEASON CANDIDATE FOR THE 2004 PLAYER OF THE YEAR! thats so awesome.
ok, that made my day...
peace... GIG, GIG
